A list of games for couples and duos, these are great games to play together. Whether you’re wanting to play with your significant other, family member, or your friend we found these games to offer a lot of fun for two player and co-op content.

Valheim

We love playing Valheim, a survival base-building game full of exploration and replay-ability with its endless amount of procedurally generated maps (or seeds).

You are a viking who has been dropped into the purgatory world of Valheim, you must build and fight to survive the harsh elements and variety of dangerous creatures you will encounter across the lands. You will sail the seas in viking fashion and fight mighty bosses to progress your game.

Together you will gather supplies and discover recipes to craft important armor, weapons, and components for your base, house, or fortress. The skies the limit on what you decide to build, and there is no limit to the amount of places you can build on your maps.

World of Warcraft

World of Warcraft (WoW) is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) that offers a vast and immersive virtual world for players to explore. For couples who share a passion for gaming, WoW can be an exciting and enjoyable activity to experience together.

As a team, you can choose quests and stories (through expansions) to explore across a vast fantasy world. Whether it’s slaying monsters or rescuing citizens of Azeroth, working together to complete quests fosters teamwork and cooperation. WoW’s vast world provides stunning landscapes and hidden treasures to discover, making exploration an exciting shared experience.

You can also collect mounts, pets, and achievements showcasing your shared accomplishments and building a sense of pride together. From embarking on quests, conquering dungeons and raids, competing in PvP battles, or simply exploring the vast virtual world, WoW provides a platform for couples to bond, have fun, and create memorable experiences together.

Elder Scrolls Online

There’s so much to say about playing ESO as a couple or a duo. With all MMORPGs each player will need their own account to play together. Elder Scrolls Online is free to play with an optional monthly subscription called ESO Plus.

If two people are starting the game together for the first time we would recommend they both choose the same Alliance so the order of main story quests will sync. You can both complete the tutorial and choose together where you want to start your quests.

Questing is voice-over in ESO, so when there are two people you may want to go through the quest dialog together when you’re in a group because sometimes you have to make unchangeable decisions.

There’s a LOT of exploration and activities to do in Elder Scrolls Online together, meaning you can go to delves and dungeons, craft, fish, decorate houses, complete overland content like world bosses and zone map completion, and battle other players in PvP for instance.

Lord of the Rings Online

LOTRO is another MMORPG that is good for couples, and duos. Lord of the Rings Online is free to play with an optional VIP monthly subscription.

Questing is completed by reading the quest from NPCs you meet in your adventures, there are Epic Book quests to follow through the main story where you are completing tasks and helping people alongside what’s going on with the Fellowship.

Lord of the Rings Online has a massive map to explore, with thousands of quests. Things you can do as a two-person group are quests, some small scale dungeons like 3-player, Skirmishes, Missions, and of course Deeds, which are goals you complete for rewards and progression.

This game is most enjoyed when it’s done in a take-your-time pace, as it is all about the journey, not necessarily the end. There are a LOT of festivals and mini events throughout the year, where you can barter for mounts, pets, and cosmetics, etc.

It Takes Two

It Take Two was made to be played with 2 players, it’s co-op with a shared split screen. This is a great game to play on the couch with a console. Together you must help each other to advance the game with crazy challenges and puzzles.

You play as Cody and May, an unhappy couple who are magically turned into dolls. They have to work together to get themselves out of their predicament. They must face gangster squirrels’, pilot a pair of underpants, DJ a buzzing night club, and bobsleigh through a snow globe to name a few things.

Dinkum

Set in an Australian setting, Dinkum is a life simulation with online co-op functionality. If you’re a fan of games like Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, and Minecraft then Dinkum will feel familiar with a different story and theme. Dinkum lets you play at your pace with cooldowns on progression being gated behind your ability to make friends with villagers and Dinks, aka coins.

The maps are procedurally generated and there’s plenty to do like farming, fishing, cooking, gathering, building, and even terraforming. Build a village, farm vegetables, take care of animals, and craft vehicles. If you like fashion, there’s a lot of cosmetic pieces to collect too.

Dinkum can be played single player or online co-op. You can invite your friends to your island to help you build. In multiplayer, only the host can place buildings, move buildings, and sell farm animals. Everything else can be progressed, when you return to your island you take your skills and items with you.

Raft

Raft is an open world survival game where you and your friends must gather, craft, cook, build and fight off sharks to survive. You begin floating in an ocean on a raft with just a hook, you gather debris in the water to build up your raft and learn crafting skills.

As you are floating forward, you will come across islands and places to explore, there is a story to progress through too. Your raft can be built up into a large boathouse that you can decorate and farm on.

Raft’s multiplayer allows for up to 8 players at a time, the more players means more water and food needs, but the game adjusts to provide more resources to gather.
