20 LOTRO Store Mounts, A Picture Guide

This list features 20 riding mounts available in the Lord of the Rings Online in-game store, in no particular order here are some of the most impressive steeds. These mounts have varying prices and can be purchased with LOTRO Points (LP).

Some of the store mounts are bound to one character and others are Account Wide, be sure to check for the difference when you are shopping for any of these in the store. Account Wide mounts are purchased one time and will arrive to each character on your account and any new characters you create. Single purchase mounts will be used on the character you purchase it on.

Certain mounts will include a set of War-steed cosmetics that are in the same theme of the travel mount. The cosmetics for your War-steed can be dyed and you can also create unique outfits by slotting different pieces from other sets.

Prices noted below are subject to change, keep an eye out for when the LOTRO Store offer sales on mounts from time to time.

Steed of the Citadel Guard

The Guards of the Citadel are the warriors responsible for guarding the topmost level of Minas Tirith, particularly the fountain courtyard and the White Tree of Gondor. The Steed of the Citadel Guard wears thick steel armour covering it from nose to flank. It has a black caparison emblazoned with the White Tree of Gondor and trimmed in gold.

Reveller’s Gilded Mount

The Reveller’s Gilded horse is dressed in a ruby red saddle cloth with ornate gold embroidery, a matching gilded crest covering and a low profile saddle. There is also a bundle in the store that includes 3 cosmetic items to match the mounts caparison, the outfit pieces can be dyed.

Cost: 1295 LP or 1995 LP Account Wide. Also available with cosmetic bundle 1795 LP.

Steed of the Jester

The Steed of the Jester wears a contoured saddle pad in red, orange and yellow hues with a matching embroidered breastplate and hindquarter strapping adorned with small beaded tassels.

Cost: 995 LP or can be obtained during the Spring Festival event for barter tokens.

Steed of the Iron Hills

East of the Lonely Mountain is the lands of the Iron Hills where Durin’s Folk settled during the First Age, it is a source of rich minerals and iron. The Steed of the Iron Hills wears a barding made of thick brown leather plating above patterned cloth with markings that resembles the hills of the area.

Steed of Minas Ithil

Minas Ithil was once a fortress of Gondor known as the Tower of the Moon. This Steed of Minas Ithil is a silver-grey horse meant to carry the fearsome guard of Isildur into battle. It wears a bright blue and white caparison with a flag.

Cost: 1295 LP

Green Painted Skeleton Steed

A glow-in-the-dark painted steed, colored jet black and patterned with pale green skeleton bones.

Cost: 1295 LP or 2495 LP Account Wide (There is also a black/white skeleton steed for 1195 LP)

The white painted skeleton steed can be obtained during the Harvestmath Festival as a rare drop.

Steed of the White City

From the stables of Minas Tirith this heavily-armored horse wears a chain enforced caparison that props up a leather saddle. Layered, ornate, plate metal adorns the mount’s neck and chest, protecting it from spears.

Steed of the Withywindle

Tom Bombadil lives in the valley of the Withywindle where it is believed to be a source of strange occurrences in the Old Forest. The Steed of the Withywindle has barding made of thick brown leather plating above patterned green cloth.

Steed of Victory

The Steed of Victory is a brown and white horse clad in heavy, plated black leather with metal studs and a bright, red cloth underlay.

Steed of Nightwood

The Steed of Nightwood has barding made of heavy leather and thick cloth, decorated with an Elvish design in silver, gray and yellow.

Fleet-footed Goat

This white fleet-footed goat is able to travel as fast as any horse and through the dark Mines of Moria. Goats are the only mounts that can be used in the Mines of Moria because after all “A mine is no place for a horse.”

Steed of Thorin’s Hall

The Steed of Thorin’s Hall wears angular leather armour in deep purples and accents of gold and silver. It carries a heavy torch, several treasure chests, a hammer, and a tankard fit for a dwarf!

Steed of Rivendell

The black Steed of Rivendell is wears a light teal colored caparison adorned with silver barding, on it’s back sets a bow and torch to light the way.

Steed of Michel Delving

The Steed of Michel Delving is brown and white wearing green and golden armour and can carry all your amenities, including a sleeping roll, a lantern to light your way, fresh produce and a cooking set, perfect for all seven daily meals!

Steed of Bree

The Steed of Bree wears iron scale and barding. It carries a shield, a torch, and a horn, with a red-handled sword hanging by it’s side.

Steed of Dol Baran

The Steed of Dol Baran wears a barding made of plated black leather with metal studs and a cloth underlay. Covered with heather, Dol Baran is between Isengard and the Gap of Rohan, at the southernmost foot of the Misty Mountains.

Steed of Rhûn

The Steed of Rhûn has barding made of sturdy leather banding and light cloth. Rhûn is a name used for all lands lying east of Rhovanion, around and beyond the inland Sea of Rhûn.

Steed of the Kingstead

The Steed of Kingstead has greenish brown leather plates and a mail caparison. Kingstead is a lush green meadow located in the lands of Rohan.

Steed of Dagorlad

The Steed of Dagorlad has barding made of rugged black leather and chain-mail, with a sword and shield accessory. Bereft of life and beauty, Dagorlad was largely a treeless wasteland located in the southwestern Rhovanion, near Mordor. Dagorlad was the location of the Battle of Dagorlad, fought there between Sauron’s forces and the Last Alliance of Elves and Men at the end of the Second Age.

Steed of Night

The Steed of Night has a dark charcoal coat with glistening chocolate undertones, amber eyes and is bedecked with a glimmering saddle pad, a fiery neck guard and reinforced leather saddle, bridle and leg boots.
